Position Summary
Snow Valley Resort is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Seasonal Accounting Clerk to join our dynamic accounting team for the winter season. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of various accounting cycles, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and daily cash reconciliations across multiple departments. The position requires daily interaction with all resort departments, making it a vital link in our operational chain during the winter season.Duties & Responsibilities
As a Seasonal Accounting Clerk, you will be responsible for a range of tasks that support the financial health and efficiency of our resort. Key responsibilities include:- Data Entry and Documentation: Accurately key in or type sales/purchase invoices, credits, account statements, cheques, and other records, ensuring proper documentation is retained and filed regularly.
- Payment Processing: Receive and process payments from resort customers efficiently and accurately.
- General Ledger Management: Ensure proper coding of all revenue and expenses based on Snow Valley’s Chart of Account Reference Guide.
- Cash Handling: Collect daily cash drops from resort departments, balance and prepare daily deposits, and coordinate cash deliveries to the bank.
- Accounts Monitoring: Keep track of receivables and payables to maintain healthy cash flow.
- Cheque Preparation: Prepare daily and weekly cheque runs.
- Administrative Support: Provide essential administrative support to department managers, enhancing overall department efficiency.
- Month-End Closing: Prepare month-end working papers to support the month-end close process.
- HR/Payroll Duties: Assist with HR and payroll duties as required, contributing to smooth personnel management.
Qualifications & Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:- Experience: Previous experience working within a finance/accounting department or as a bookkeeper for a large business.
- Team Collaboration: Strong ability to work collaboratively as part of a team towards common goals.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure accuracy and completeness in all tasks.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, and knowledge of POS systems is an asset.
- Availability: Willingness to work weekend shifts from early December until late March.
