The Fine Print

1 Credit Account - Credit accounts have no cash surrender value.

Ticket/Pass Requirements

All program participants MUST have a valid Season Pass or Lift Ticket. Pass or lift ticket must be attached to participant jacket or pants and visible to Instructors and Lift Attendants. Program Access Card must also be attached and visible. Students cannot participate in lessons without a Pass/Lift Ticket and Program Access Card.

Program Access Cards, Season Passes and Program Lift Cards are mailed to participants. Plastic loops for attaching cards are available at the resort upon opening. On lesson start dates there will be staff handing out loops to any participants who require them.

If you forget your Program Access Card, Season Pass or Program Lift Card, our Information Desk can print you a temporary ticket one time. For lost passes a reprint fee of $25 will be incurred.

Discreet Buddy Program

We want to ensure the most successful experience for every lesson participant. If your child has a special need or condition, please let us know.

For children who require a little extra assistance in their group program we recommend a Discreet Buddy. Adding a Discreet Buddy gives them their own “personal assistant” to ensure they are comfortable in the group, understand instructions and will always ride next to their Buddy on the chairlift.

8 Winter Weekend | $288
6 Winter Night | $162
Holiday Camp | $108
March Break Camp | $144

Please call our Information Desk at 705-721-7669 ext. 0 if you have questions about this option or would like to purchase for your child.

Late Arrivals

Instructors are unable to wait for participants who are running late. If you are running late for your lesson, we will make every attempt to assist you with meeting up with your class/Instructor; however, the facility is quite large, and the staff will not remain in the same area each week. Snow Valley is not responsible for lesson time missed due to arriving late.

Cancellations

Snow Valley reserves the right to cancel any program prior to the start due to lack of enrollment, weather conditions, or other considerations.

In the event of a facility closure or cancellation of an individual program day by Snow Valley, the program will be extended an additional week into the 9th or 7th week on the same day and at the same time. If the participant also purchased a Rental Add On or Program Lift Pass, they will also be extended.

In the event of extreme weather please stay tuned to our website and social media for updates. Do not assume that we are open or closed.

Evaluations & Assessment

Students are assessed throughout the duration of the program. On the final day of class in an 8 Winter Weekend or 6 Winter Night program students will be given an evaluation report card. This report card will give their current ability level, skills they have accomplished and the next steps for further development. If you miss the final day of class, report cards will be held at the Information Desk until April 26, 2024, for pick up.

Participant Expectations

At Snow Valley every lesson participant and Snow School staff member has the right to feel safe and comfortable in our lessons. Snow Valley will make every reasonable effort to provide a safe and nurturing environment for all. Snow Valley does not tolerate bullying, in any of its forms.

Participants are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful and courteous manner towards staff, other participants, and their surroundings. Participants will be informed of our expectations on the first lesson day and throughout the program. Participants who engage in behaviour that is unsafe to themselves, staff and/or other participants, or negatively affects the quality of the lesson program, may be requested to leave the program for the day and/or remaining weeks of program. No refund or credit will be issued if a participant is dismissed from the program.

Frequently Asked Questions

How are groups made?
All our groups are created on Skiing/Snowboarding Ability and Age. Our primary focus is to get groups with similar skill abilities together. This promotes the learning experience and makes for a more enjoyable group dynamic. We form groups based on age to encourage social experience for our students. It is not always possible based on abilities to have exact matches in age, but we are always considerate of ‘age appropriate’ placements.

All students will be evaluated in the first 2 weeks of lessons and moved to a different class/level if deemed necessary.

Special requests will be taken into consideration but will not always be granted due to the high volume of enrollment. If you have requested a specific instructor, groupings with friends, or anything that goes beyond our regular grouping methods we will do our best to accommodate you. Please respect that we care where each student is placed and aim to provide the best groupings for all involved in our programs.

Are make-up lessons available?
Unless the Snow School has cancelled a program, there are no make-up lessons for group programs. Missed lessons by students, for any reason, in a multi-week program cannot be made up and will not be refunded.

Can I attend another class if I miss my regular scheduled lesson?
Unfortunately we cannot accommodate jumping into another group.  To maintain consistency in our class sizes, safety and flow of progression we cannot have students attend classes they are not assigned to.

Are there classes on Family Day Weekend?
For the 2023-2024 season there are NO program classes on Family Day weekend, February 17th, and 18th. The only exception to this is U League Race Teams which will run.

Will I have the same instructor throughout my program?
Our intention is to have the same Instructor teach the same group each week, but just as students sometimes miss days, so do our Instructors. If for some reason an Instructor is unable to teach their usual class a substitute will be provided.

Can I watch my kids in their lessons?
Everyone on a sliding surface must have a valid lift ticket or pass, which limits the locations from which to watch lessons take place. In our Kidz Village there are bleachers to watch from and our Adventure Learning Centre is partially viewable from our Day Lodge Deck. For parents who are skiing/snowboarding themselves, if you would like to observe, we ask that you do so from a distance to not distract the lesson.
