Outdoor Operations
Position Type: Seasonal, Part Time & Full Time
Hours of Work: Variable, weekends, evenings, holidays
Rate: $21.00 – $29.00/hr based on experience
Term: November to End of March
Job Overview:
Groomers are vital members of the Outdoor Operations team, ensuring snow grooming equipment is operated safely and efficiently. You will work closely with the team to provide guests with an exceptional snow surface and maintain ski slopes to the highest possible standard in a variety of snow and weather conditions.
Job Duties:
- Maintainthe safety of fellow employees and guests.
- Operatesnowcats responsibly and safely.
- Maintainskiing surfaces to the highest standard possible.
- Log fuel consumption daily.
- Learn tooperateall snowcat equipment and develop general ski hill knowledge.
- Minimize downtime through basic preventative maintenance,cleanlinessand upkeep of machines.
- Maintaingood working relationships and communicate work instructions with co-workers.
- Report potential trail hazards to the Operations Manager, Ski Patrol or Duty Manager by 8:00 a.m.
- Receive daily work instructions from the Operations Manager and Supervisors.
- Communicate with shop mechanics daily, as needed,regardingmechanical problems.
- Keep the interior of machines clean at the end of every shift, including removing garbage and wiping the dashboard and cup holders.
- Follow snowcat rules: no smoking, no eating whiledriving,drinks must be in sealed spill-proof cups, and alcohol is never permitted in the snowcats, including for passengers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Knowledge of the area and equipment, including all groomed runs, grooming machines and implements, is an asset.
- Must be able to read, write, speak,comprehendand understand English fluently.
- Team player who works well in small groups.
- Able to climb on and off vehiclesfrequently.
- Able to sit for extended periods whileoperatingthe snowcat.
- Able to use two-way radios, including speaking and hearing instructions.
- Ability to perform night shift work.
