This position is ideal for those who enjoy a fast-paced work environment. Familiarity with hand tools and the ability to do careful work are important for staff in the rental and repair area. Snowmaking Technician

Department: Outdoor Operations

Snowmaking Technicians are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of our snowmaking system. Snowmaking is a 24hr, 7 day a week operation that is constantly evolving as each shift changes. You responsible for creating and maintaining snow levels across the entire resort using high pressure air & water to ensure excellent snow quality for our guests. You will maintain snowmaking equipment before, during and after use to ensure efficient performance and safety of equipment. You will be responsible for checking snow texture and making adjustments as needed, reporting to the Snowmaking Supervisor any changes in weather and be in constant communication with the entire crew. Snowmaking keeps you outside in all weather so an enjoyment of the outdoors is a must.

Snowcat Operator

Department: Outdoor Operations

You are a vital member of the Grooming team, ensuring the snow grooming equipment is operated safely and efficiently.  You work well with a team and continually strive to provide our guests an exceptional snow surface. You maintain the ski slopes during all snow and weather conditions to the highest possible standard.

Job Duties:

  • Responsible for the safety of fellow employees and guests
  • Responsibility and sensibility to maintain safe snowcat operation
  • Maintain skiing surfaces to highest level possible
  • Log fuel consumption daily
  • Ability to learn how to operate all snowcat equipment and develop general ski hill knowledge
  • Minimize down time through basic preventative maintenance, cleanliness and up-keep of machines
  • Maintain good working relationship and communicate work instructions with co-workers
  • Report potential trail hazards to the Operations Manager, Ski Patrol or Duty Manager by 8am
  • Receive daily working instructions from Operations Manager and Supervisors
  • Daily, as needed, communication with shop mechanics concerning mechanical problems
  • Keep the interior of the machines clean, including removing all garbage and wiping the dashboard and cup holders etc at the end of every shift
  • No smoking in the cats, no eating while driving. If you bring a drink, it must be in a sealed spill proof cup. No alcohol is ever allowed in the cats, even by passengers
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of area and equipment including all groomed runs, grooming machines, implements are an asset
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, comprehend and understand English fluently
  • Team player and can work well in small groups
  • Able to climb on and off the vehicles frequently
  • Able to sit for extended periods of time while operating the snowcat
  • Able to use two-way radios (both speaking and hearing instructions)
  • Ability to perform night shift work

Maintenance/Operations

As a member of the Maintenance Team, your duties would include but not limited to the  regular maintenance on all vehicles and equipment, starting up and shutting down all ski lifts, as well as building maintenance when required. The role is best suited for an individual that is a team player along with a positive attitude and is quick to learn.
